Welcome to Wood Flooring NJ website, the floor specialists serving residential and commercial needs throughout New Jersey and New York.
Our experienced team can bring your old wood floors back to their original beauty using techniques to re-sand and renovate.
We offer many different things depending on the situation of your floor.
Sanding and refinishing or staining your wood floor. If floor is in good condition, we can offer screening and coating or buffing and waxing. The final decision is sanding and refinishing. There are many kinds of refinishing, like oiling, water or oil base finish and waxing. A lot of people like their floors oiled (ex. natural look of the wood). Water base finish is easy to apply also easy to re-coat. It dries fast and it's non toxic. You can also do many coats in one day. In addition, water base finish shows the grain of the wood more. Oil base finish is more durable then any finish. It takes more time to dry that it could take 12 hours and up to 24 hours between each coat. Oil base is toxic.
Once you have decided to install or refinish your wood floor, you may wonder what will happen next.
Before work begins, remove all furniture, draperies, painting and all other items from the room. For the new installation, the wood will need to acclimate, which it could take from two days up to two weeks in case of solid wood.
If the floors are being sanded, finished or re-finish, be prepared for some noise. Dust containment systems can minimize debris, but no system is 100% effective. It is preferable to cover any items that you want to keep dust free. When the finish is applied, stay off your floor until it has dried.
Keep in mind that no two wood floors boards will be identical. As your floor ages, some color change can occur. Seasonal humidity change may cause the wood to expand and contract. Finally, keep your wood floors looking their best by properly maintaining them.
